Who Is PHP?

Founded in 1996, Physician Health Partners (PHP) is a management services organization that believes physicians and other providers have the capability and responsibility to drive high quality, cost-effective healthcare for patients.

Our innovative services create solutions for the healthcare market by delivering performance tools and expertise to improve healthcare quality, reduce overall system costs and increase the clients’ business success. Our current customers include an adult IPA, a pediatric IPA, and two self-funded government contracts.

History

• 1993 – Hospital system capitalizes the formation of the Provenant Managed Health Organization (MHO), Provenant Health Partners was formed to manage the primary care physician group.
• 1994 – Provenant MHO is awarded its first global risk contract by FHP Senior Plan.
• 1996 – Primary Care IPAs join forces to form Physician Health Partners (PHP) to manage the physician portion of the FHP contract.
• 1999 – PHP Merges with Vivra, a disease management company to grow PHP and develop enhanced infrastructure.
• 2000 – PHP buy back after Vivra is acquired by Magellan. PHP bought itself back from Magellan and expanded ownership to include capitated specialists.
• 2001 – PHP adds Colorado Pediatric Partners (CPP) to list of clients.
• 2003 – Jay Want, MD named CEO of PHP.
• 2005 – PHP is awarded the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) contract.
• 2006 – PHP is awarded the Colorado Division of Youth Corrections (DYC) and Mental Health Institutes of Colorado (MHI) contracts.
